Betty Youst

Betty K. Stewart Crawford Youst, 99, Lancaster, died on June 21, 2017 at Lanfair Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Care. A 1936 graduate of Nelsonville High School, Betty previously served as Nelsonville City Auditor; was employed by the Nelsonville City Schools; and worked for the state auditor’s office as an examiner of schools and libraries. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Lancaster, the Elizabeth Circle, Rose Ministry and Pastor’s Bible Study. She volunteered for The Fairfield Heritage Assn. and Olivedale Senior Center. She loved playing bridge, tennis, and golf. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Myrle F. Stewart; husbands, Converse “Connie”Crawford and Roy A. Youst; sons, Stephen and Robert Crawford; step-son, David Youst; and daughter-in-law, Lynn Martin. Survivors include beloved daughters-in-law and care-givers, Bernita Cawford of Nelsonville, and Terry Youst of Pataskala; step-son, Roy Youst of Pataskala; step-daughter, Sister Susan Youst of Cincinnati; daughter-in-law, Maritza Crawford of California; granddaughters, Susan Crawford (Jay) Teal of Lancaster, Stephanie Youst (Mike) Giannini of Johnstown, Iris Alegria and Leslie (Isaac) Salinas of California, and Selene (DJ) Kelly of Columbus; grandsons, Sam Crawford of Washington and Stuart (Christy) Crawford of California, Steve (Terry) Martin and Jeff (Margaret) Martin of Columbus, Mike (Debi) Martin of Michigan and Gary (Tracey) Martin of Louisiana; special cousins Karen Jones of Columbus and Lisa Sells of Lancaster; and numerous great-grandchildren. At Betty’s request, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, Ohio.
