James Hess Jr., age 89, of Logan, Ohio, passed away September 14, 2021, at Lindley Inn, The Plains, Ohio.
James was born January 11, 1932 in Spencer, WV to James Lee Hess and Frances Hess. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War; member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church; retired from Erb Lumber, Royal Oak, MI; and was a devoted husband, daddy, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Oneida Hess; daughter, Lois (Ed) Williams; grandchildren, Jodi (Brian) Blume of Cibolo, TX and Erin (Tony) Dixon of Piketon, OH; and great-grandchildren, Josh, Joe, James, Jesse, Carley and Piper.
James was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, September 17, 2021 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Logan, Ohio with Pastor Tom Walz and Pastor Jim Walz officiating. Military Services were conducted by Hocking County Honor Guard.
Burial was at 2:30 pm in The Hebron Church Cemetery, Spencer, WV, where Military Graveside Services were conducted.
Calling hours were observed on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm at the church.
