John Lee White

John Lee White, age 69, of Chauncey, Ohio, passed away August 3, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family.

John was born January 17, 1951 in Mineral, Ohio to Eugene and Kathryn White. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, and firefighting. He worked for the Nelsonville fire department and city street department for 22 years. Volunteered as a fire fighter for Chauncey fire department for about five years, 3 years at Surf City, North Carolina, 2 and a half years at Corning, Ohio, and 2 years at Waterloo Twp., Ohio.               

Surviving are his loving wife of 47 years, Brenda White; children, John White Jr., Chrystal (Mathew Hall) Scaggs, Tracie (Micheal) Gelbart, Jeremy (Bonnie) White, Timothy White, Tiffany (Art Wilison) White, and Amber (Robert) Gager; adopted children, Milissa Woods and Terri Jo McCune ; grandchildren, Ashley (Micheal Burchnell) White, Chet White, Desirea White, Chelsey White, Kaylee White, Joshua Scaggs, Alexis Gager, Morgan White, Ayden Gager, and Robert Gager Jr.; great-grandchildren, Madison White, Shantrea Ward, and Hunter White; siblings, JoAnne Myers, Joseph (Happy) White, Joyce Dodson, Susan (Warren) Kerns, Roger (Linda) White, and Sam Hison; many nieces and nephews; long time friends, John (Dianne) Ellis and Leslie Ellis; many other amazing friends and people that knew John; good friends Bill Bender, Fritz Collmar, Jeffery Dew, and Dennis Scaggs; and fur babies, Maddy, Duke, Dusty, and Saddie.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Cathryn (William) Smith and father Eugene White; siblings, Ronnie (Marti) White, Rick Barett, Doloris Gorenflow, and Patricia Miller; brother-in-law, Clarence Myers; granddaughter, Ashley’s dearly departed Kasey Ward; and fur angels, Danny and Maggie.

Funeral services were held at 7 P.M., Friday, August 7, 2020, at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, Ohio.

Calling hours were observed 11-2 and 5-7 on Friday, August 7, 2020, at the funeral home.
