Lois J. Barrows

Lois J. Barrows, 78, of Nelsonville, Ohio passed away August 13, 2018 at her residence, Nelsonville, Ohio. 

Lois was born April 8, 1940 in Delaware, Ohio to Afton and Loava Marie Lumbard. She was a 1958 valedictorian graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Delaware, Ohio; involved in the Berean Theater; owned the House of Sewing in Nelsonville for several years; sang at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.; worked at the Tribune in Nelsonville and was a fraud investigator for Job & Family Services; former member of St. Andrew Catholic Church where she was the choir director and played the organ; and was a current member of the St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Church in Buchtel. 

Surviving are her sons, Christopher Barrows of Nelsonville and William Barrows of New Albany, Indiana; daughters, Mary Hartley of Logan and Kathryn Barrows of Columbus; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bettie (Kenneth) Holscher of Savage, MN and Sara (John) Heitz of Lehi, Utah; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and her dog Dee O. Gee. 

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 54 years William Shannon Barrows; and brother James Robert Lumbard. 

Funeral services were held at 7:00 pm, Friday, August 17, 2018 at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, Ohio with Father Christopher Foxhoven officiating. 

Internment of ashes and memorial service were held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, Ohio. 

Calling hours were observed Friday, August 17, 2018 from 4:00 pm to time of service.
