Wanda Lou Sabo

Wanda Lou Sabo passed away on Sunday April 28, 2024, at Ohio Health O’Bleness Hospital, Athens Ohio after multiple illnesses within the last several months.

She was born to Rev. Harry and Ruth Dickerson on March 31, 1931, in Coonville, Ohio. Wanda was a graduate of Waterloo High School, class of 1949. 

Wanda worked for McBee’s, and Rocky Boot Company, (formerly known as WM. Brooks Shoe Co.), as a seamstress for 18 years. 

Wanda was an active member of the Nelsonville Wesleyan Church. She was a Sunday School teacher for over 60 years. She lived her life for the Lord, and everyone around her knew it.  She never met a stranger and was a walking ministry to everyone. Wanda loved to laugh, sing, study her bible, car riding, quilting, and shopping in thrift stores. She was a gift to many.

Wanda is survived by two sons, Mark (Cindy) Sabo of South Zanesville and Keith Sabo of Athens; two grandchildren, Sonya (Rick) Frame, and Jillian Sabo; two great-grandchildren, Zoë Sabo and Marcus Sexton; and one brother, Gerald (Patty) Dickerson of Logan.

Wanda was preceded in death by her father and mother, Rev. Harry, and Ruth (Allbaugh) Dickerson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luke Sabo (1979), and dear friend, Rodney H. Wilson (2017); two brothers, Harry ‘Dick’ Dickerson, Jr. and Charles Dickerson; and one sister, Emma Jean Saylor.

A funeral service was held at 11:00 am Friday May 3, 2024, at Warren-Brown Funeral Home Nelsonville, Ohio with Pastor Mike Thomas officiating. A burial followed in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery, Nelsonville Ohio.

Calling hours were held 4 – 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
