Jo-Anne Louise (Nixon) Conkle, age 94, of Logan, Ohio, passed away July 8, 2024, at her daughter’s home.
Jo-Anne was born December 8, 1929, in Logan, Ohio to Vernon L. Nixon and Alta Faye Nixon. She was a member of Union Furnace United Methodist Church; graduated from Starr-Washington High School; graduated from Hocking College School of Nursing; was a Registered Nurse; and was a Gold Star Mother.
Surviving are her daughter, Pamela Jean (Conkle) Born of Athens; grandchildren, William “Willy” Conkle, Jennifer (Hammond) Heine, Janine (Hammond) Ruffo, Justin Hammond, Kristopher Born, and Haley (Born) Botwe; 13 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, James T. (Tom) Hammond of Hartford City, Indiana; and many dear nieces and nephews.
Jo-Anne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Frank E. “Gene” Conkle, Sr.; son, Frank E. Conkle, Jr.; daughter, Diane Hammond; brothers, Kenneth Nixon, Robert Nixon, Richard Nixon, Harry Nixon, and Roger Nixon; and sisters, Kathryn Wilson, Ruth James, Sarah Blackburn, and Beverly Lehman.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, July 14, 2024, at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, Ohio with Pastor John Pellitier officiating. Burial was in Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, Ohio.
Calling hours were observed 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the funeral home. The Appalachian Ohio Nurse Honor Guard honored Jo-Anne at 7:30 P.M. during calling hours.
