Leo Emerson Starr, age 96, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away September 4, 2024, at Danbury Parkside, Westerville, Ohio.
Leo was born February 2, 1928, in Greendale, Ohio to Willard and Florence Starr. He graduated from New Straitsville High School; served in the US Marine Corps; loved hunting, fishing, and gardening; loved children; and his kids and grandkids.
Surviving are his wife of over 75 years, Renie Starr; daughter, Patty “Janie” Mark of Westerville; sons, Dwight Starr of Columbus and Darin (Kerry) Starr of Columbus; grandchildren, Beth, Jennifer, Jimmy, Ashley, Tina, Zachary, Chad, Jared, Jesse, and Dylan; several great-grandchildren; sister, Patty (Gerald) Dickerson of Logan; sister-in-law, Connie Starr; and several nieces and nephews.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Starr; grandson, Brandon Starr; and siblings, Betty (Louis) Hamilton, Kenneth (Dolores) Starr, Janice (Jim) Allberry, and Eddie Starr.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, September 9, 2024, at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, Ohio with Pastor Kenny Oswald officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Rockbridge, Ohio, where Military Graveside Services were conducted by the Hocking County Honor Guard.
Calling hours were observed 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at the funeral home.
