William Harrington “Bill” Theisen, age 92, of Nelsonville, Ohio, passed away September 9, 2024, at his residence.
Bill was born August 3, 1932, in Rendville, Ohio to James Ferdinand Theisen and Gladys Louise Harrington Theisen. He was a US Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict; was Postmaster of the Nelsonville Post Office for 32 1/2 years; served 16 years as Athens County Commissioner; was Boy Scout Master and Cub Scout Master; attended the former Buchtel United Methodist Church, and the new Village Church of Buchtel; member of the Nelsonville VFW; was a Rolland Pierce Award recipient; was an avid gardener; loved music and being outdoors; loved to help people; and most of all, he loved his family.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Barbara Janie Theisen; sons, William “Frank” Theisen and Randy (Cindy) Theisen; daughters, Jennifer(Cameron) Smith and Brenda Kay Daniluk; step-children, Barbie (Gary) Carter, Bridget Hutchison, and Tessie (Michael) Brown; grandchildren, Jerrod (Tanya) Theisen, Jordan (Alexis) Theisen, Ronnie Smith Jr, Jakob Koprivec, Madison (Ashlee) Carter, Marc (Cheyenne) Carter, Parker Boyd, Ivie Boyd, and Johnathan Hutchison; 9 great-grandchildren; and sister, Janice Thompson.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Heather Smith; brothers, Jack, Paul and Dick Theisen; sister, Janet Carr; and son-in-law, Doug Daniluk.
Funeral services were held at 1 P.M., Friday September 13, 2024, at the Village Church in Buchtel with Pastors Dave Shoemaker, Ed True, and Rusty Sharp officiating. Burial was in Carbon Hill Cemetery, Carbon Hill, Ohio. Military graveside services were conducted by the Combined Color Guard.
Calling hours were observed 11 am – 1 pm Friday at the Village Church in Buchtel.
