Ann Nixon

Ann Lee Nixon, age 93, passed away on October 29, 2024, in Lancaster, Ohio.

Ann was born in Nelsonville, Ohio, on September 2, 1931, to Wayne and Jenni Bumgardner. The youngest of six children, Ann cherished her siblings, Max Bumgardner, Marie Dixon, Dolores Hannahs Gordon, Vergene Cyrus, and Eileen Burchfield.

Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry, to whom she was married for over 45 years. She is survived by her three children, Lee Ann Nixon, Harry (Eileen) Nixon, and Steven (Emily) Nixon. Ann was blessed with four grandchildren, Emily and Olivia Nixon, Chris (Madeline) Nixon, and Jennifer (Jarin) Jaffee; and five great-grandchildren, Emerson and Everett (Jarin and Jennifer) and Ludovic, Lorenzo, and Luciano (Chris and Madeline).

Ann loved Nelsonville, the place and its people. She lived her entire life just outside the city, in an area she fondly referred to as Mudsock. She spent 74 years of her life living in the same home on Wolf Bennett Road.  She had many jobs including working at the bank and at Mt. Saint Mary’s Hospital. She loved the First United Methodist church where she was a member of the choir, as she loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. She could also play the piano by ear and often entertained the people at Reflections by playing and singing hymns.

Ann was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend to all.

Friends called at the First United Methodist Church in Nelsonville from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024, or from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024. A small service was held at the church on Saturday at noon.
