Dorothy Kathleen Bond 89, of Nelsonville, passed from this life into God’s Kingdom on Thursday, January 10, 2019.
Kathleen was born June 22, 1929 in Nelsonville to the late Simon Oscar and Ida Effie (Lehman) Bond. She graduated from Nelsonville High School in 1947; was a lifelong devout member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church (formerly Nelsonville Pilgrim Holiness Church). One of the joys of her life was teaching the church nursery for 72 years beginning at the age of 16. She was employed at Goodyear Corporation in Logan for 26 years.
She is survived by her sister, Galoria Lee Koon of Nelsonville; nephew Christopher Koon of Cincinnati, Richard bond of Gahanna, and Danny Henthorn of Florida; nieces Joellen Bond Abdella of Chauncey, Barbara Bond MacDonald of Buchtel, and Marilyn Henthorne of Florida; many loving great-nieces and nephews; and her church family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her brothers, Lawrence “Pete”, Theodore “Ted” and Roy; and sisters, Audrey Henthorne, Lahoma Dean, and Galena Huddy.
Funeral services were held at 6:00 pm on Monday, January 14, 2019 at the Nelsonville Wesleyan Church in Nelsonville, Ohio with Rev. Mike Thomas officiating.
Calling hours were held on Monday, January 14, 2019 from 4 pm to time of service at the church.
Following cremation, burial will be in Smith Chapel Cemetery.
