Dana Lee Hunter was born on January 3, 1932 and passed on, to be with the Lord, November 5, 2016. Dana was born on West Union Street, Athens, Ohio to Matt Hunter and Bertha Moore Hunter. Dana is survived by his beloved wife, of forty years, Golda Hunter; and three sons, Gary, Mike, and Glen Hunter. Dana also has two grandchildren, Joey and Mandy Hunter (Mike); great-grandchild; and two step-children, George and Fauna Stout. Dana was dearly loved and cared for by his family. Dana was raised at Hamley-Run and graduated high school from New Marshfield, Ohio, the Class of 1950. Dana enlisted in the Navy for four years, during which he attended GMO Sonar School in Key West, FL. Throughout his service in the Navy he worked on three different Destroyer ships as a 3rd class Sonar man; he was honorably discharged in January of 1955. After the Navy, Dana lived in Chicago with his family and was educated as a Tool Engineer. As a tool engineer, Dana worked at Metal Powder Products in Logan, Ohio. Dana later worked as a shop foreman at Federal Mogul Corp. in Gallipolis, Ohio. Dana later retired, from Ohio University, as a custodian. Dana was an active member of New Life Assembly of God Church in Athens for many years. Dana served the Lord through guitar and singing, as well as volunteering for service in many other ways. Dana was an active member of the AmVets of the New Marshfield area. He was preceded in death by his parents; and the mother of his children, Darlene Johnson. Calling hours were on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home in Nelsonville. The funeral was at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at the funeral home, with Reverend Phillip Foster of Athens New Life Assembly of God, officiating. Burial and Military Graveside Services were held at The New Marshfield Cemetery by the Combined Color Guard.
