Betty Jane Lewis, 90, of Buchtel, Ohio passed away November 21, 2016 at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster, Ohio. Betty was born July 10, 1926 in Columbus, Ohio to Eli Rodger and Virgel K. Penny. Betty was an active member of the Community of Christ Church of Logan; and enjoyed cake decorating, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an inspiration to all, and was very strong in her faith and belief in God. Surviving are her son, John David “Sam” (Mary) Lewis of Albany; daughter, Pauletta Jane (Thomas) Barrera of The Plains; grandchildren, Michelle Lynn Rawlins Scott of Buchtel, Michael Joseph (Melissa) Lewis of Buchtel, Samuel Tyler Lewis of Albany and Corey Michael Poches of Columbus; and great-grandchildren, Mariah, Sydne, Kylee Jo, Lyndsay, and Trey. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Edward Lewis; daughter, Linda Lee Lewis; brothers, Paul Rodger Penny and Harry Allen Penny; and sister, Helen May Miller. Funeral services were held 11:00 am Monday, November 28, 2016, at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, Ohio with Pastor Sheila Klinebriel officiating. Burial was in Athens Memory Gardens, Athens, Ohio. Calling hours were observed Sunday, November 27, 2016 from 2-6 pm at the funeral home.
