Cheryl Gaye Carr

Cheryl Gaye Carr was born May 27,1949 to Paul and Lola (Vorhees) Carr of Gibisonville. She passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her older brother, Dr. L. Paul Carr.

She graduated from Logan High School and received her B.S. in Elementary Education from Ohio University. Later she earned her Masters Degree in Education from Mount St. Joseph.

She was employed by the Logan Hocking Schools and started her teaching career at South Bloomingsville Elementary. Later, she became the principal of Union Furnace Elementary and eventually, became Director of Pupil Personal. She retired after 35 years.

She loved teaching and working with the students, staff and parents to try to meet each child’s educational needs. Over the years, she has kept in contact with many of her students and co-workers.

She was very active with the Logan Education Association and was inducted into the Logan Educators’ Hall of Fame.

She was an avid Buckeye fan and loved attending the games. She loved traveling with her brother and friends, enjoyed playing and singing and never missed a fair as long as she was able to go. She attended Shepherd of the Hills Church with her childhood friend, Anita Colliton (deceased).

She is survived by her sisters, Nancy (Bob) McCune of Grove City and Andrea (Vern) Goss of Logan; nieces, Kellie McCune, Bobbie Brooks, Maddison and Ashley McCune, Love and Faith Bassett, Jordan Goss and Miranda Harkless; nephews, Todd (Jennifer) Goss, Aron (Brittany) Goss, Jeremy (Tina) Goss, Erie (Amy) McCune, R.T. (Meagan) McCune, Christian (Angie) Bassett, Christopher (Brittany) Bassett, Joe (Ashley) Bassett, Sam and Noah Bassett; great-great-nephew Kaos Bassett; and special friends, Kim Ellis and Karen Grashel.

ln lieu of flowers donations can be made to Brighten Your Future or a local food pantry.

Calling hours were held on Friday, February 5, 2021, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, Ohio.

A private family service was held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home Logan, Ohio with Rev. John Williams officiating.

Masks and social distancing are required while visiting us and the family.
