Jean M. Canan, 89, of Logan, Ohio passed away surrounded by family September 26, 2018 at Carlin House, Logan, Ohio. Jean was born April 28, 1929 in Rockbridge, Ohio to Delmer and Grace Later. She was a loving and devoted mom, grandma, and great-grandma; attended the Rockbridge Advent Christian Church and had a life-long passion for flowers, gardening, and music. Surviving are her daughters, Linda (Dan) Gobel of Laurelville and Debbie (Steve) Hampshire of Rockbridge; grandchildren, Ami (Jim) Carmon of Bexley, Tami (Lance) Bell of Rockbridge, and Sommer (Dan) Barham of Nolensville, TN; great-grandchildren, Hanna & Lauren Carmon, Coby, Caleb, Owen, and Lilah Bell, and Daniel & Jonny Barham; siblings, Earl Later of Rockbridge and Eula Hacker of Logan; several nieces and nephews; and lots of special friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ralph D. Canan; and brother-in-law Ralph Hacker. A private graveside service was held on Monday per Jean’s request. A public gathering was held at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church in Gibisonville, Ohio at 12:30 pm on Monday, October 1, 2018 for all of Jean’s family and friends.
