Bobby Smathers, age 80, of Buchtel, Ohio, passed away December 19, 2022, at his residence.
Bobby was born in Buchtel, Ohio to Lawrence and Alice Bolin Smathers. He was a 1961 graduate of Nelsonville-York High School; US Army Veteran; and retired from Metal Powder in Logan, Ohio.
Surviving are his children, Bobby (Alison) Smathers of Buchtel, Yvonne (Greg) Bartlett of Chauncey, Robby (Heather) Smathers of Athens, Scott Smathers of Buchtel, and Brian Smathers of Nelsonville; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Layuna Gerace and Veronica Dillinger both of New York.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda Diane Smathers; daughter, Sherry Newlun; granddaughter, Ashley Newlun; great-grandson, Jonathan Henry; and brother, Lawrence Smathers.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, Ohio. Burial was in Whitmore Cemetery, Buchtel, Ohio. Military Graveside services were conducted by the Combined Color Guard.
Calling hours were observed 2-4 & 6-8 pm Monday, December 26, 2022, at the funeral home.
