Daniel I. Sargent, age 70, of Logan, Ohio, passed away June 19, 2023, at the Pickering House, Lancaster, Ohio.
Dan was born October 1, 1952, in Flint, Michigan to Irven and Ethelene Sargent. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War; retired, after 34 years, from the Logan Post Office in 2015; received the Million Mile Mailman Award from the Postal Service; and was a member of the Hocking County Fair Board.
Surviving are his children, Crystal (Patrick) Murtha and Susan (Liz Sims) Sargent; grandchildren, Addison Murtha, Jackson Murtha, Bennett Murtha, and Zeke Murtha; siblings, Matthew (April) Sargent and Zandy Ogg; sister-in-law, Bev Sargent; nieces, Tiffany (Tyson) Ellert and Kassie (Derek) Wolfe; 5 great-nieces and great-nephews; mother of the children, Diane Sargent; and special friends, Joe Miller, Christin Clements, and Carson Powell.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jeffery Sargent; and brother-in-law, Jim Ogg.
Calling hours were observed at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, Ohio, from 3 to 7 P.M., Wednesday June 21, 2023. On Thursday, June 22, 2023, visitation was from 10:00 to 10:45 A.M.
A procession traveled to Oak Grove Cemetery, where Military Graveside services were conducted by the Hocking County Honor Guard at 11:00 A.M. and a graveside service followed, officiated by Rev. Dr. Randy Hardman.
