Andrew W. Slane

Andrew William Slane, 38, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Vogt Germany on Monday April 22, 2024, from a pulmonary embolism. Andrew was born on July 18, 1985, to Michael and Melodee Slane at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, OH.

Andrew was a 2003 graduate of Logan High School and received a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA.  Andrew also attended Lake Erie College Osteopathic Medicine. While living in Erie he met his wife, Alissa (Mayer) Slane, of Germany. They returned to Germany where they have lived for the past 13 years. Andrew was an animal lover and avid musician; playing with several bands throughout his life. Andrew also enjoyed golf, woodworking, travel, sailing, and spending time outdoors with his beloved dog Bear. Andrew has worked as a web developer for many years, and most recently with News Factory in Augsburg, Germany.

Andrew is survived by his wife, Alissa (Mayer) Slane of Vogt, Germany; parents, Melodee A. (Miller) Slane of Chillicothe, OH, and Michael S. Slane of Akron, OH; brother, Philip Slane and spouse Qanyu Phang of Lansing, MI; sister, Catherine (Slane) Eveland and spouse Seth Eveland of Chillicothe, OH; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Woflgang Mayer and sisters-in-law, Sarah and Katharina Mayer; aunts and uncles, Mr. and Mrs. Greg Keefe, Mr. and Mrs. Matt Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Slane, and Ms. Rebecca Pawlowski; and cousins, Erin (Slane) Wheatly, Morgan Slane, Jacklyn Miller, Scott Plumbly, Carson, Olivia, and Drake Miller.

Andrew is preceded in death by grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Miller Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Philip Slane.

A celebration of life was held at Hocking Hills Methodist Church on May 19, 2024, with services arranged by Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, Ohio.

Calling hours began at 1:30 pm, service at 3:00 pm, and a small reception followed the service.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Melodee Slane to help cover end of life expenses.
