Charolette Arleen (DeWar) Kornmiller, age 86, of Logan, Ohio peacefully passed away in her home on November 7, 2024.
Charolette was born on July 28, 1938, in Benton, Illinois to David and Opal (Pfeil) DeWar. She was a 1956 graduate of Logan High School and attended Grant Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a Nurse at Logan Hocking Hospital (Charington) and retired after 30 years from Goodyear Tire & Rubber.
Charolette was a member of St. John Lutheran Church since 1958, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Venus Chapter #76 (Worthy Matron twice), Mother Advisor of Rainbow Girls, Member of United Rubber Workers #744, President of the Local Union, Life member of the Harley Owners Group, Member of Athens HOG club, Hocking County 4-H leader for 10 years, Recipient of Grand Encampment of Knights Templer USA Award, and Co-Founder of the Logan High School Alumni Band in 1974.
Charolette’s hobbies were reading, painting, crocheting, sewing, canning, baking, attending Bluegrass shows, making beer and an annual participant and winner in the Hocking County Fair. She loved taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Some of her fondest memories were things that she did with her children and grandchildren. She was a 4-H advisor to her girls, Kendra and Karen, their Mother Advisor in Rainbow Girls and joining them on band activities. Watching David play baseball and going to all of his baseball games, along with watching all of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their many sports and activities. She took care of Erin every summer when she would visit from Delaware and having her, Amanda and Joshua together and going on “adventures” around Ohio with them. The best thing that she did after she retired was take care of Tyler while his parents worked. He was just what she needed after 4 years of retirement when she was getting bored.
Larry and Charolette had some wonderful adventures – 3 trips to Germany and the many friends they made there, going to Paris, France for our 35th wedding anniversary; riding on the back of the Harley to Milwaukee for the 95th Anniversary, as well as the 100th; riding their Harley around the Atlanta Motor Speedway carrying the flag to begin the 100th anniversary celebration; several trips on the Harley to Rolling Thunder in Washington D.C.; many trips with special friends Dean and Cheryl Moore; the great 4th of July celebrations at Mullet Grove, all the friendships with young and old that kept me young, even if it took a little Captain Morgan on occasion.
Charolette is preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Fred DeWar, John DeWar, Richard A. Cooper, Ina June (DeWar) Jones, Beverly (DeWar) Stone, Patsy (Cooper) Hord and Mary J. Cooper; in-laws: Lester and Betty Wine, Don and Juanita Roop, Donald and Millie Kornmiller, Joe Kornmiller, Earl and Lyda Kornmiller; grandson: Brandon Ogg
She is survived by her husband Larry, her children Kendra (Brad Hill) Squires, Karen (Jeff) Ogg, David (Amy Stahl) Kornmiller; grandchildren Joshua (Naomi) Squires, Amanda (Gabe) Clark, Erin (Michael) Gibson, Tyler Kornmiller, Joshua (Cynthia) Ogg; great grandchildren Elijah, Ezra and Scarlett Clark, Joey Gibson, Azariah and Aria Squires, Roslyn Kornmiller, Kaelyn, Lane, Bentlee and Briella Ogg, Orion, Sophia, Gwen and Elizabeth Ogg; sister in law Dee Kornmiller and honorary sons, Keith and Kelly Adams.
