Clara Mae “Pooch” Pitts, 78, of Nelsonville, Ohio passed away November 14, 2016 at The Laurels, Athens, Ohio. Clara was born April 30, 1938 in Murray City, Ohio to Lowell and Delcie “Tessie” Camp. She was a member of the Nelsonville Church of the Nazarene; and worked at the Sundae Shoppe in The Plains. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Max L. Pitts Sr., whom she married September 24, 1955; sons, Max L. (Vicky) Pitts Jr. of The Plains, Tim S. Pitts of New Straitsville, and Mark (Carey) Pitts of Lancaster; grandchildren, Christopher Pitts, Lacey Pitts, Cassey Nunnley, Ann Pitts, Brooke Pitts; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Drew Douglas; brother, Joe (Donna) Camp of Rome; and sister, Janie (Bill) Thiesen of Nelsonville. Clara was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Elizabeth Pitts; brothers, Lowell A Camp Jr, Ralph “Todd” Camp, Floyd Camp, and David Camp; and sisters, Rose Mary Vozel, and Leta Ann Pritchard. Funeral services were held 1:00 PM Thursday November 17, 2016 at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, Ohio with Rev. Ed True officiating. Burial was in Carbon Hill Cemetery, Carbon Hill, Ohio. Calling hours were observed 11am to 1pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
