Clyde Wendell Johnson, age 84, of Logan, Ohio, passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on November 2, 2022, at Embassy of Logan, Logan, Ohio.
Clyde was born August 26, 1938, in Athens County, Ohio to Clarence James and Violet Vaundell Johnson. He was a member of Iron Workers Local 172 and former owner of Clyde Johnson Roofing; was a member of Tri County Nite Hunters; a member of Union Furnace United Methodist Church; an avid supporter of the Hocking County Fair and livestock sale; member of the Laurel Ringer Horseshoe Club; and was a well-known banjo picker and bluegrass singer.
Surviving are his wife of almost 59 years, Nancy Johnson, whom he married on December 7, 1963; children, Rita (Gene) Reis of Logan and Chris (Ginger) Johnson of Logan; grandchildren, Allyssa (Isaiah) McCombs, Jordan (Julia) Brown, Bailey (Seth) Vandagriff and Madelyn, Cooper, and Lucas Johnson; great-grandchildren, Hunter McCombs, Lincoln McCombs, Brooks McCombs, Gatlin Brown, Saylor Vandagriff, and soon to come, Kipley McCombs; several nieces and nephews; brother and sisters, Denver Johnson of Nelsonville, Patty Howson of New Marshfield and Delores Storts of Corning; close family friend, Malinda Wells of Hillsboro; and many special friends and hunting buddies.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; 8 brothers and sisters, Junior, Marilyn, Don, Bob, Darlene, Carl, Dutch, and Jack; and special friend, Jeff Jones.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, Ohio with Rev. Dr. Randy Hardman officiating. Burial was in Asbury Cemetery, Nelsonville, Ohio.
Calling hours were observed 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 P.M. on Monday, November 7, 2022, at the funeral home.
