Douglas Howard Courtney, age 82, of Union Furnace, Ohio, passed away October 14, 2024, at 2:35 am, at The Pickering House, Lancaster, Ohio. He worked in the Oil Fields most of his life.
Doug was born August 18, 1942, at home, to Fred Courtney and Florence Mount Courtney.
Surviving are his daughters, Barbara Nelson of Union Furnace and Billie Jo (Mark) Sanchez of Sugar Grove; sisters, Mary Davis, Pearl (Mike) Kearns, and Wanda (Jeff) Mohler; 4 grandchildren, Douglas Bennett, Donald Bennett, Mark Sanchez Jr., and Clarissa Sanchez; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and his dog, Freddie.
Doug was preceded in death by his wife, Claris Freeman Courtney; parents, Fred and Florence Mount Courtney; brothers, Russell Courtney, John Courtney, Thomas Courtney, and Jerry Courtney; and an infant sister, Barbara.
His request for no funeral services will be granted. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
