It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, Eldon “Frog” Maccombs, who peacefully left us on April 15, 2025.
Frog was born on March 31, 1927, to William “Porter” and Addie (Hankerson) Maccombs, and just passed is 98th Birthday. Frog loved hunting, fishing, and gardening. However, most of all, Frog loved telling others about Jesus. He was an ordained minister through the Living Faith Church of God and was in the prison and jail ministry for 27 years. Frog was employed by Columbus-Southern-AEP Electric Company for 40 years and then was retired for 39 years. He was also a proud WWII Army Veteran.
Frog is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Jane Maccombs; daughters, Vicki Maccombs and Janice (Tony) Osbourne; sons, Gary (Kathy) Maccombs, William (Brooke Waters) Lynn and Carl Lynn; grandchildren, Mindy (Troy) Wise, Jason (Stephanie) Vititoe, Heather (Jesse) Doering, Ashley (John) Draper, Michael (Amber Lower) Osbourne, Joshua (Jamie) Maccombs, Justin (Anna) Maccombs, Jared (Renea) Maccombs, Cassidy (Cole) Johnson, Elliott (Ava Rowley) Lynn, and Jerry (Brianna) Lynn; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; sister, Gladys Dicken; brother, Melvin (Jeri) Maccombs; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice (Robert) Bachtel, Opal (Jim) McFarland, and Velma (Everett) Woody; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald (Virginia) Maccombs and Wilford (Phyllis) Maccombs; brothers, Delbert Maccombs and Paul Maccombs; brother-in-law, Deke Dicken; nieces, Kathy Bachtel, Beverly Greenbaum, and Tammy Maccombs; and nephews, Matthew and Michael Maccombs.
The celebration of life service was held at 11AM on Friday April 18, 2025, at the Oak Grove Wesleyan Church located at 13771 Kimberley Rd, Nelsonville, Ohio, with Rev. Ken Richards officiating and pianist, Rev. Ray Richards. Burial followed the services at Greenlawn Cemetery in Nelsonville, Ohio.
Calling hours were observed from 4-8 PM on Thursday April 17, 2025, at the Oak Grove Wesleyan Church, and from 10-11 AM on Friday April 18, 2025, prior to the service at the church.
Special thanks to the VA nurses and hospice nurses for their kindness and loving care of Frog. Arrangements are by the Warren-Brown Funeral Home of Nelsonville, Ohio.
