Everett P. “Possum” McKee

Everett Paul “Possum” McKee, age 64, of Chauncey, Ohio, passed away at his residence on January 11, 2023. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend.

Everett was born February 2, 1958, in Athens, Ohio to Everett McKee and Christi Cochran McKee.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Cheryl McKee; 4 sons, Everett McKee II of Albany, Ohio, Michael McKee of Chauncey, Ohio, Derek McKee of Chauncey, Ohio, and Nicholas McKee of Chauncey, Ohio; daughter, Chastity (Junior Davidson) McKee of Chauncey, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers, Joe (Barb) McKee of Happy Hollow and Frank (Barb) McKee of Trimble; and sisters, Trudie Gardner of Coning, and Lori Graham of Junction City.

Possum loved fishing, watching wrestling, having a Pepsi, and most of all his 1984 Monte Carlo, white with maroon interior. Dad really loved that car.

Everett was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wilbur McKee, Jerry McKee, and Rodney McKee; and sister, Stella Ricker.

Special friends and family; aunt, Luella Collins of Glouster; brother-in-law, Freddie Warren of Canton, Ohio; Tracy Smith of Belpre, Jimmie Brammer of Glouster, and Terry Lee of Glouster; and special companions, Levi and Roo.

Special thanks to the Warren-Wogan and the Hospice team of Athens, Ohio who helped take care of Possum in his final months.

Services were held at the Brown Funeral Home Murray City, Ohio. Calling hours were Tuesday, January 17, 2023, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral was held Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at 1:00 pm. Family arrived at 12:00 Noon. Possum was buried at Beech Grove Cemetery, Perry County, Ohio.
