Garry W. Roop, age 80, of Logan, Ohio, passed away March 13, 2025, at Riverside Methodist Hospital of Columbus, Ohio, surrounded by his loving family.

Garry was born September 26, 1944, in Sugar Grove, Ohio to Oliver W. and Ida M. Roop. Garry was a member of the Moose and the AMVETS of Logan. He also loved farming and tinkering in the barn.

Surviving are his wife, Marlene Roop; children, Garry R. (Carla Geil) Roop, Shane Roop, and Shelley (Doug Yeater) Snyder; step son, Ron (Daphane) Thompson; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Evelyn Turley, Jean Martin, and Shirley Henerly; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Garry was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Ida Roop; stepdaughter, Tina Swisher; fur child, Boomer; brother, Chuck Roop; sister; Kay Roop; brothers-in-law, Danny Turley, Carl Martin, Junior Henderly; sister-in-law, Betty Roop; and longtime best friend, Steve Dupler

Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday March 18, 2025, at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home of Logan, Ohio. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery of Rockbridge, Ohio, where Military Graveside services were conducted by the Hocking County Honor Guard.

Calling hours will be observed from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday March 18, 2025, prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
