Gary E. Hiles, age 85, of Logan, Ohio, passed away February 20, 2023, at Crestview Manor, Lancaster, Ohio.
Gary was born October 19, 1937, in Logan, Ohio to Floyd N. and Vivian Hiles. He was a Logan High School graduate; a veteran of the US Navy; life member of the AMVETS Post 1776 of Logan and VFW Post 3467 of Nelsonville; retired after 23 years as lineman from GTE; served on the Logan Fire Department with 9 years as Assistant Chief; and most recently was a driver for Hocking Cartage and Logan Transit.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Karolyn “Sue” Hiles; daughters, Lori (Raymond) Aidt and Gerali Hiles; son, Eric E. Hiles; grandchildren, Bethany Flory, Heidi Miller, Abby Boals, Hunter Aidt and Tyler Aidt; great-grandchildren, Alliee Boals, Madison Flory, Michael Flory, Aurora Gaskill and Ada Gaskill; and sister, Jenny Gomph.
Gary was preceded in death by his father and mother; grandsons, Jeremie Boals and Terry Miller Jr.; and brother, Jeff Hiles.
Graveside services were held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Fairview Memorial Gardens with Rev. Dr. Randy Hardman officiating. Military Graveside services were conducted by the Hocking County Honor Guard.
Arrangements are by the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home.
