George Wallace Sheppard (Pap)

George Wallace Sheppard (Pap) 54 of South Bloomingville, Ohio, was born into this world April 1, 1968, in Logan County, West Virginia. Sadly he took his last breath in the early morning hours of September 9, 2022, having long time suffered from end stage kidney failure.

George loved his family, wanting them always to be close by so he could watch and protect them. After his illness turned for worse, they then were there to do the same.

George was a hard worker. When he was a young man, he worked in the coal mines in West Virginia. Since moving to Ohio, one of his favorite things to do was working at the Hocking Dining Lodge, prepping food for the line chefs. He was a good man with a gentle soul, There isn’t anything he wouldn’t do for someone if he was able.

George loved music, Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd being his favorite. He always said he couldn’t sing, but he would belt those lyrics out in the car. George enjoyed being outside, he did a lot of fishing, boating and swimming. He also said he swam like a rock, but he wasn’t fooling anyone. George enjoyed flowers, especially cactus and other succulents. He loved the color pink and had a fondness for birds. In the end, not able to get out much, he enjoyed gator hunting with all the swamp people, visiting Andy in Mayberry, and Festus showed up too. There was one thing George requested and it was to have a porch built so he could watch his grand babies play. He got his wish, if only for a few minutes sitting on the porch built just for him. Goodbye for now, you will be in our hearts until we meet again.

George was preceded in death by his mother Ruby, brothers James and Herb, nephew JJ, daughter Sydney, and father-in-law Damon.

George leaves behind his wife Dawn, children, Dillion, Brittany (Paul), Montanna (Jason) and Charlie Sheppard. He had several grandchildren, Brenna, Kya-Jane, Corrigan, Athena, Willow, Charley, Ellie, Aiden, Braxton, Alice and Amelia. This is how he got the name “Pap.”

George is also survived by his father, Charles (Karen) Sheppard, siblings, Ada Sheppard, Robert (Kim) Sheppard, Kimberly Porter (Kevin Clark), Jeremy and Daniel Sheppard and Matt (Catherine) Sheppard, and mother-in-law Shirley Stevens. Along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were handled by Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, Ohio. He was at Salt Creek Valley Community Church from 10:00 – 1:00 PM Tuesday, September 13, 2022. Funeral services were at 1:00 PM. Burial was at Green Summit Cemetery in Adelphi, Ohio.

Missing you George, and every time we smell a pot of coffee brewing or drive by Grand Buffett, you will be walking through our memories.
