Georgia M. Miller, age 87, of Logan, Ohio, passed away August 1, 2023, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital, Logan, Ohio.
Born May 10, 1936, to Harry and Gladys Neff in Pickaway County, Ohio on a farm that is now a part of Deer Creek Reservoir. The family moved to Hocking County, Ohio in 1941. She graduated from Logan High School, Class of 1954. She was a life-time member of the Hocking County Historical Society and a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.
Georgia won many ribbons at the Hocking County Fair in baking, canning and crafts. Georgia and Aubrey “JR” spent many great winters in Venice, Florida, hunting shark teeth and antiquing. She formerly worked at the Cherrington Hospital, Logan Daily News, and retired from Logan-Hocking Schools.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 57 years Aubrey “JR” Miller Jr., who passed away March 12, 2013; son Todd Miller, who passed away in 1974; brothers, Orrin Neff, Lawrence Neff, Paul Neff, Lewis Neff and Larry Neff; sisters, Marcella Walker, Marion McCune Bigham, and Janice Neff; daughter-in-law, Becky Miller; sisters-in-law, Pearl Ann Neff and Bonnie Neff; and step great grandson, Jamie Whitmore.
Surviving are her sons, Bill Miller of Dayton, Ohio, Doug (Lora) Miller of Rushville, and Barry Miller of Logan, Ohio; grandchildren Tonya Mundy of Logan, Scott (Andi) Miller of Logan, Shawn (Lewis) Whitmore of Logan, and David Miller of Dayton, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Blaine, Olivia, and Mason Miller, Carter, Gage, and Aubrey Mundy, and MacKenzie Whitmore; step great grandson, Lewis Whitmore; brothers, Richard Neff of Biloxi, Mississippi, Ken Neff of Reno, Nevada, and Edwin Neff of Logan, Ohio; and friend of family, Kerrill Dennis.
The family thanks a lifetime friend, of over eighty years, Norma Geiger, for her weekly phone calls and friendship to our loved one. In addition, the family thanks the amazing care from the Hocking Valley Community Hospital, FairHoPe Hospice, and Dr. Ireton.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 7, 2023, at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, Ohio with Pastor Steve Hubbard officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Rockbridge, Ohio.
Calling hours were observed on Sunday, August 6, 2023, 2-4 and 6-8 PM and on Monday from 10 to 11 AM at the funeral home.
