Howard L. Easterling Sr., age 83, of Buchtel, Ohio, passed away October 5, 2024, at O’Bleness Hospital, Athens, Ohio.
Howard was born December 3, 1940, in Murray City, Ohio to Delphin and Hazel Cavey Easterling. Howard graduated from Murray City High School; served in the US Marine Corps; retired from Buckeye Steel Castings; member of the Millwright Union; life-member of the VFW 3467 in Nelsonville; life-member of the American Legion #420 in Murray City; life-member of the Eagles in Nelsonville and Murray City; loved Westerns, loved traveling; and was a great husband, father, and grandfather.
Surviving are his fiance’, Rita Clements; children, Tammie Bentley, Zella (Scott Ward) Easterling, Tom (Wendy) Mitchell, Gary (Teri Lynn) Easterling, and Shane (Audrey) Mitchell; 18 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; brother, Don Easterling; nephews, Bryan, Michael, Tim Easterling; and stepson, Dustin Maddix.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Sheila Hartley and Blinda Easterling; son, Howard Easterling Jr.; and brother, Glenn Easterling.
Funeral services were held at 3 pm, Saturday October 12, 2024, at the Brown Funeral Home, Murray City, Ohio with Alan Whitmore officiating. Military services were held by The Combined Color Guard at 3 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
Calling hours were observed from 1 to 3 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at a later date in New Straitsville Cemetery, New Straitsville, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The American Cancer Society in memory of Howard.
