Jacob William Pickett, 65, of Nelsonville, Ohio passed away January 2, 2016 at his residence. Jacob was born July 17, 1950 in Nelsonville, Ohio to William Lawson and Marjorie Keyes Pickett. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Vietnam from 1969-1970 specializing in Communications Operations in Combat. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal. He served until 1977. He also worked as a service operator in the oil fields; Life Member and past Commander of the Nelsonville VFW Post #3467, also a member of The Plains VFW Post #7174; loved fishing, hunting, and golfing. Surviving are his wife Charlene Pickett; daughter Tabitha (Jared) Donner of Cincinnati; step-sons, Jonathan Mustard of Nelsonville, and James Cooper of Logan; grandchildren, Jacob, Katherine, and Wyatt Donner of Cincinnati; one step-grandchild on the way; brothers, Wayne Pickett of Carbon Hill, Roger “Buck” Pickett of Meigs County, and Jim Pickett of Nelsonville; and sisters, Margie Ann (Don) Marsden of Washington Court House, Jane (Richard) Norris of New Lexington, Vicki (Mike Winchell) Pickett of Nelsonville, Elaine (Hank) Lindsey of Nelsonville, and Nancy (Jack) Waldren of Logan. Jacob was preceded in death by his parents. Calling hours were observed Tuesday, January 5, 2016, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Warren Brown Funeral Home. A Graveside Service, for Jacob, was held Saturday January 9, 2016, at 1:00 PM at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, Ohio. Military Graveside Services were conducted by the Combined Color Guard.
