James “Fred” Yates, age 84, of Fanning Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2023, at Tri-County Haven Hospice Care Facility in Chiefland, Florida.
Fred was born January 22, 1939, in Logan, Ohio to James Chester Yates and Grace Maxine Yates. Fred was a pastor of 20 plus years primarily at Apache Junction AZ and a few others over the years. Fred liked to travel over the years before he started getting sick. Fred was also a US Marine veteran.
Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Connie Yates; grandson, James Michael Jr.; sister, Nancy Bateman; and close friend, Richard Stiveson.
Fred was preceded in death by parents, James and Grace Yates, and 2 sons, James Michael Yates and Scott Ryan Yates.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday December 27, 2023, at the Praise and Worship church located on Lake Logan Road in Logan, Ohio with Pastor Mike Martin officiating. Burial was in Knollwood Cemetery in Logan, Ohio.
Calling hours were observed from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, on Wednesday December 27, 2023, prior to the services at the church.
Arrangements are by the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home of Logan, Ohio.
