James Doyle Sams, 69, of Tampa, Florida,
formerly of Jacksonville, Ohio, passed away June 26, 2017.
James was born December 7, 1947 in Chillicothe, Ohio. He was a Trimble High
School graduate; and a US Air Force veteran.
Surviving are his sisters, Judith A. Vaught of Glouster, Marvene C. Chilcote of
Nelsonville, and Mendy D. Sams of Trimble; brother Charles W. Sams Jr. of Grove
City; Jason Bycofski of Athens who was like a son to him; and many nieces and
nephews.
James was preceded in death by his father, Charles W. Sams Sr.; mother,
Marjorie E. Jenkins; a nephew and niece, Jerry and Susan Hashman;
brothers-in-law, Larry J. Hashman Sr., Jerry Vaught, and John Chilcote Sr.; and
Teresa Bycofski who was like a daughter to James.
Funeral services were held 1:00 PM Monday July 3, 2017 at the Brown Funeral
Home, Murray City, Ohio with Pastor Elijah Brooks officiating. Burial was in
Zion Cemetery, Portersville, Ohio where Military Graveside services were
observed by the Combined Color Guard.
Calling hours were observed Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes for donations to be made to Brown Funeral
Home to help with funeral expenses.
