Jimmy Eugene Wallace

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jimmy Eugene Wallace, Logan, Ohio, on August 20, 2024, at the age of 85. Jim was born on September 11, 1938, in Rainelle, West Virginia, to Tommy and Ada (Smathers) Wallace.

Jim Graduated from Ohio University and was a teacher at the Athens Middle School for 32 years. He was also a life member of the Elks Lodge #543.

Jim loved to be outdoors planting and caring for his gardens and fruit trees. He also enjoyed spending time in the woods every spring, hunting mushrooms. His vast knowledge of history, and years of wonderful memories, made him a great storyteller. Jim loved his family and his home. He always looked forward to attending The Village Church of Buchtel with his beloved sister Connie Hayden.

Jim is survived by his wife and companion of 43 years, Jamie (Wend) Wallace; his children, Jan (Mike Briggs) Meimaridis, Jimmy (Anita) Wallace, and Julie (Doug Tolliver) Wallace; step-sons, Rick (Harleigh Cruze) Morgan, and Joe (Mary) Morgan; grandchildren, Brynn, Alex, and Austin Maimaridis, Beth (Wallace) Rutter, Katie, Tre, Jake, Taylor, and James Wallace, Malori Wallace-Tolliver, Maci, Molly, and Maddy Sullivan, Blake, Autumn and Brady Morgan; plus 11 great-grandchildren; siblings Paul (Leah) Wallace, Connie (Charley Thompson) Hayden, and Valli (Gary) Hayden; brother-in-law, Hootie (Maureen) Wend; father-in-law Jim Wend; and Birdie the cat.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Roberta Wend; brother-in-law, Gary Hayden; and mother of his children, Karen Wallace.

Funeral services were held at 11 am Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home in Nelsonville, Ohio with Pastor Dave Shoemaker officiating. Burial was in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Nelsonville, Ohio.

Calling hours were 5-8 pm Friday at the funeral home. Elks’ service was held at 7:00 PM Friday evening.
