Jo Ann Sorrell 88, of Chauncey, Ohio, passed away June 28, 2015 at O’Bleness Hospital, Athens, Ohio. Jo Ann was born January 8, 1927 in Athens County, Ohio to George and Ada Johnson. She was a graduate of Chauncey High School; member of the Nazarene Church of the Plains; and worked for 30 years as an Activities Director at Kimes Convalescent Center. Surviving are her son, Greg (Cathy) Sorrell of Chauncey; grandchildren, Travis (Tracy) Sorrell of Millfield, Troy (Lacy) Sorrell of The Plains, Trent Sorrell of Chauncey, Christopher (Dodi) Sorrell of Lancaster, and Josh Sorrell of Lancaster, and Sheri Sorrell-Davidson, who Jo Ann called granddaughter; great-grandchildren, Trevor, Tiffany, Kroy, Madison, Morgan, Makayla, Brenda, Joshlyn, and Mckenzie; great-great-granddaughter, Autumn Sorrell of Chauncey; and sister-in-law, Barb Sorrell of Athens. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald E. Sorrell, who passed away September 4, 2012; son, Todd Sorrell; brothers, Bob and George Edward Johnson; and sisters, Lee Hamond and Evelyn Giffin. Funeral services were held at 10:00 am Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home Nelsonville, Ohio with Rev. Gary Alton officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, Ohio. Calling hours were observed Wednesday, July 1, 2015 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
