John Anderson

John Anderson, affectionately known as “Grandpa Johnny” by his grandchildren, passed away on February 11, 2025, in Lancaster, Ohio, at the age of 90. Born on May 30, 1934, in Nelsonville, Ohio, John lived a long and meaningful life filled with dedication to his family and service to his country.

John was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. From 1952 to 1954, he served honorably during the Korean War, demonstrating courage and commitment to his nation. His time in the military was a defining chapter of his life, one that he carried with pride throughout the years.

He was preceded in death by his birth parents, Marie and Johnny Anderson; his parents, Estella Anderson and George Tolliver; his beloved wife, Irene Anderson; his brother, Tom Anderson; his daughter Sharon Patterson; and his son Ben Anderson. Though they are no longer here, their memories remained close to John’s heart.

John is survived by those who cherished him deeply. His special friend Debbie Rutter provided companionship and support. He leaves behind his children: Steve (Heather) Campbell of Butler, Indiana; Tony (Kathy) Campbell of Logan; and Mandy Miller of Logan. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Desiree (Michael Ritchey) Miller of Logan; Beckie (David) Rankin of Glouster; and Dylan (Cherokee) Campbell of Lancaster. Additionally, he was blessed with 12 great-grandchildren, a very special grandson, Kendaven Campbell, and a great-great-granddaughter. His nieces and nephews also held a special place in his life.

Family and friends will gather to honor John’s life on February 15, 2025. Calling hours will be held from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, located at 204 W. Main St., Logan, Ohio. Services will follow at 4PM. Graveside services will be held at a later date.

John’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His strength, kindness, and unwavering dedication to family will not be forgotten.
