Judith A. Miller

Judith A. Miller, Logan, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020.  She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Agnes Hutchison, born January 16, 1934.

Judith was the proud mother of Melodee Slane, Tamara (Greg Keefe) Miller both of Logan, and Marshall “Matt” (Christina) Miller of Rockbridge.  She loved living for her family including grandchildren Andrew (Lizzy) Slane of Vogt, Germany; Philip (Qanyu Phang) Slane, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Catherine (Seth) Eveland, of Chillicothe, Ohio; Carson Miller, Great Lakes, Illinois; and Olivia and Drake Miller of Rockbridge, Ohio. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Miller, Jr., deceased since January 18, 1979; sister, Margaret Vollmer; brothers John L., and William R. Hutchison; and an infant daughter.

Judith graduated from Logan High School in 1951.  She attended Hocking College and Ohio University-Lancaster. She wrote the first Retired Seniors Volunteer Program grant and became the first RSVP Coordinator for Hocking County.  She was also employed by the Hocking County Commissioners as the first CETA Coordinator for Hocking County and for the City of Logan as the first Community Development Coordinator, writing the first taxi grant for the City of Logan. She retired from the Athens and Hocking Counties of Job and Family Services in May of 2002.  Her goal in life was to always help the ill and needy persons.  Judith also held an elected position as Clerk of Green Township.

Judith was a past President of Green Elementary P. T. A., past officer of the Logan Band Boosters, a past Worthy Matron for the Venus Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, member of the PERS Chapter, and member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, Ohio, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 26, 2020 with calling hours having been held from 10:00 a.m. to the time of the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to FAIRHOPE Hospice, 282 Sells Road, Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
