Karen Sue Unger

Karen Sue Unger, age 78, of Lancaster, Ohio, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 13, 2022.

Karen was born March 15, 1944, in Clarksburg, West Virginia to Clyde and Mildred Hovatter. Karen was a proud member of the St. Joan of ARC Church in Powell, Ohio. She was also a member of both the Powell Women’s Gardening Club and Bexley Quilt Guild.             

Surviving are her; children, Chris Unger, Roger Unger, Darrin (Jami) Unger, and Tina Unger; 4 grandchildren, Anthony (Lindsey) Unger, Sarah (Joseph Kathmann) Unger, Jacob Gasper, Emily Unger, Nathan McNamer, and Amber Lovelace; 2 great-grandchildren, Kipley and Landry Unger; brother, Richard Hovatter; sister, Diana Hovatter; brothers-in-law, Corbin Fenton and Edward Spellman; sisters-in-law, Pat Hovatter, Nancy Hovatter, and Cloe Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.

Karen was preceded in death by parents, Clyde and Mildred Hovatter; former spouse, Jimmy Unger; siblings, Betty Hughes, Ronald Hovatter, William Hovatter, Clyde Hovatter, Gary Hovatter, Alice Spellman, Gerry Fenton, James Taylor, and Gloria Hampton; and special sister-in-law, Francis Hovatter.

Graveside Services were held at 11:30 A.M., Friday, November 18, 2022, at Pine Grove Cemetery, South Bloomingville, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Hocking County Inspire Shelter.
