Karen Virginia “Ginny” Kantner, 79, of Albany, Ohio passed away on October 24, 2023, with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Ginny was born on December 12, 1943, in Chauncey, Ohio to Clem and Flossie Rodgers. Ginny graduated from Chauncey High School in 1961; worked at the Athens State Hospital; provided child daycare services from her home in Athens, Ohio for 20 years; and held a number of volunteer and part-time jobs in her retirement. Ginny was dedicated throughout her life to her Christian faith, family, friends, and many pets.
Ginny is survived by her children, Karen Kantner of Albany, and Don (Veronica) Kantner of Westerville, Ohio; stepchildren, Gary (VIcki) Kantner of Athens, Patty (Victor) Cline of Bridgeport, WV, and Mark (Melody) Kantner of Albany; brother, John (Pam) Rodgers of The Plains; sister, Mary (Charles) Withers of Bridgeport, WV; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Ginny was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Claude Kantner, Jr.; brothers, Harold, Bill, Paul, and Don; and sisters, Marjorie, Ruth, Edith, and Sonja.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, Ohio with Pastor Tim Kelly officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, Ohio.
Calling hours were observed from 11 am to 1 pm, prior to the service at the funeral home.
