Keith “Slim” Smart, age 63, of Nelsonville, Ohio, passed away March 9, 2022, peacefully at his home.
Keith was born June 20, 1958 in Nelsonville, Ohio to Ivan and Charlotte Smart. Keith was an Ohio Game Fishing member and loved fishing and hunting in his free time. Truck driving was his life and wished he could have still been doing it.
Surviving are his wife, Tricia Smart; son, Bryson Bowen; step-children, Marilyn Sayre-Hogsett, Marsha Riley, Michele (Travis) Jackson, Kaiser (Corrina) Trout, Anthony (Heather) Trout, and Nathan (Eldonna) Trout; adoptive granddaughter, Rebecca Riley; several step-grandchildren; great-granddaughter, Gracie Brown; sisters, Debbie (Danny) Saylor, Sandra D. Walter, Tabby Amadio, and Angela (Vince) Witham; several nieces and nephews; and “Slim” loved his many trucker friends. There are so many people that Keith loved and cared for, please know that you are thought of.
Keith was preceded in death by parents, Ivan and Charlotte Smart; stepdaughter Melissa Lowery; great-nephew, Elijah Saylor; and other many relatives.
Per Keith’s final wishes, the family has opted for a simple cremation with graveside services that was held at 11:00 am Monday March 28, 2022, at Connett Cemetery, Athens County, Ohio. Following the graveside service, a dinner was held at the Nelsonville Wesleyan Church, 600 Chestnut St. Nelsonville, Ohio.
