It is with great sadness that the family of Kenneth Rheinscheld announces his passing on Monday, January 6, 2025, at the age of 90. He resided at the Carlin House in Logan,
He was born on June 18, 1934, in Hocking County, Ohio to the late Kenneth P. Rheinscheld and Verna Moore Riggs. Kenny was married to Donna “Jean” Courtney Rheinscheld who passed on September 4, 2020.
He was a 1954 graduate of Union Furnace High School; a loving husband, father, and grandfather; retired from Anchor Hocking, as a foreman, in 1985; member of the US Army Reserves; following retirement he was a Good Hope Township Trustee and worked for the Scenic Hills Senior Center; volunteered for Logan Lions Club; drove the Washboard Festival train in various parades around the area; organized the tractor show for the Washboard Festival for many years; and a 75 year member of the Hocking Grange #2082, recently honored for a 75 year Diamond Certificate.
Kenny was well known as Logan’s Santa Claus, traveling around to homes in Hocking County on Christmas Eve with his elf Angie. He was quite famous for the buckeyes he made, donating to numerous charity events, bake sales, and gifts to family and friends.
Kenny is survived by his children, Angela Rheinscheld Keynes, Susan Brown Karns (Steve Yates) all of Logan, and Thomas C. Brown of Mountain View, MO; brother-in-law, Ronald (Betty) Courtney of Jackson, Ohio; grandchildren, Graham Keynes of Columbus, and Parker Keynes of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; bonus granddaughters, Stephanie, Elizabeth, Sadie, and Saylor and their families; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jean; parents, Verna & Chauncey Riggs; sister, Ermal Fairchild; brothers-in-law, Roger Dale Courtney and Harry Wayne Courtney; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harry J. Courtney and Wava Cozad Courtney.
Graveside service will be held at a later date.
