Leonard E. McCollister 80, of Nelsonville, Ohio, passed away, surrounded by loved ones, on April 27, 2017 at his residence. Leonard was born August 1, 1936 in Nelsonville, Ohio to Floyd Emmerson and Martha Ellen McCollister. He was a member of the McDougal Church in Athens; and retired from Athens County Transportation Garage. Surviving are his wife, Donna R. McCollister of Nelsonville; daughters, Barbara McCune of Nelsonville and Robin (Chris) Stancil of El Segundo, CA; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeff) Stull of Millfield, Jeff (Crystal) McCollister of Nelsonville, Joe (Penny) McCune of Glouster, Laura (Eric) Martinson of El Segundo, CA, and Amy (Jody) Beaver of Nelsonville; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, David “Bud” (Faith Ann) McCollister of Nelsonville, Charles (Betty) McCollister of McArthur, Raymond (Mary) McCollister of St. Mary’s, Ohio, Norma Jean “Tootie” Stowers of Newark, Marjorie “Boots” Pidcock of Columbus, Ruth (Ronnie) Six of Nelsonville, Jo Ellen (Bill) Fuller of Logan, and Mary (Ronnie) Hartman of The Plains; and brother-in-law, Rick Meissner. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Debbie Meissner, Eileen “Sis” Murdock, Betty McCollister and Juanita “Needie” Keyes; brothers, Floyd “Zeke” McCollister, Bill McCollister, and Robert “Bake” McCollister; and an infant brother. Funeral services were held 1:00 pm Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home Nelsonville, Ohio with Pastor Stanley Strode officiating. Burial was in Zion Cemetery, Nelsonville, Ohio. Calling hours were observed Sunday, April 30, 2017 from 4-8 pm at the funeral home.
