Leslie C. Koon Sr., 72, of Nelsonville, Ohio passed away February 16, 2015 at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital Athens, Ohio. Leslie was born April 21, 1942 in Glouster, Ohio to John Andrews and Edna Koon. Surviving are his daughters, Christina M. Koon of Nelsonville, Crystal D. Balch of Guysville, Stacy Koon of Nelsonville and Shirley Thompson of Glouster; sons, Leslie Koon Jr. of Athens, Brett Koon of Nelsonville, Andrew Koon of The Plains, Steven Koon of Nelsonville, Ryan Koon of Nelsonville, Mark Handa Jr. of The Plains, and James Koon of Athens; 9 grandsons; 4 granddaughters; brother and sisters, Allen Duncan, Janice Tompkins, Delores Koon, and Audry Bobo; and a special friends, Tammy Balch and Tim Nordyke, both of The Plains. Leslie was preceded in death by his parents; 2 infant grandchildren; his uncle and aunt, whom raised him, Howard and Miscal Koon; and an uncle and aunt, Hank and Hershel Rutter. Funeral services were held 1:00 PM Monday February 23, 2015 at the Brown Funeral Home Murray City. Calling hours were observed Sunday from 3-7 PM at the funeral home.
