Lester E. Carpenter

A good man was laid to rest this week at a graveside service, with military honors, attended by his family and friends. Lester “Buck” Carpenter, 88, of Logan, passed away on March 4, 2025, after a blessedly brief battle with cancer. He will be missed by all those who loved him.

Lester was born on June 20, 1936, into a loving family. Family was a pillar of his entire life. He was a devoted son, protective brother, steadfast father, grandfather, great grandfather, beloved uncle, dedicated husband and true friend. Lester proudly served in the United States

Army during the Korean War and worked over four decades at Anchor Hocking glass factory in different capacities. He was very hardworking, loved to golf and was an enthusiastic sports fan. In his retirement, he could be found in church, caring for family and friends who were ill, visiting his sister in the nursing home every week, watching football and reminiscing about the good old days. Lester always kept his family laughing, for which they are eternally grateful.

Lester is preceded in death by his loving parents, Elmer and Violet (Larabee) Carpenter, brother Bob Carpenter, and sisters, Wanda (Carpenter) McNabb and Leona (Carpenter) Funk as well as his niece Debbie McNabb.

He is survived by wife Jewell Carpenter; son Paul Carpenter; sister Clara (Carpenter) Bierly; grandsons Keegan and Keiffer Carpenter; great grandchildren Kingsley and Alicia Carpenter, nieces Jeanie (McNabb) Hughes, Susie (McNabb) Snedegar, Chris Stepp; nephews Jim McNabb, Gary McNabb and A.J.
