Lonnie E. Nelson passed away at age 65 on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at 12:37 am. He lived a full life and passed away doing what he loved – riding his motorcycle. He served as a Corporal in the Marine Corps from 1976-1982 and was honorably discharged.
Lonnie rode often with his brothers by blood and brothers by steel. He is the second of his group, The Three Pigs, to pass on, leaving behind Ron Russell, but meeting up with Sam Black on the other side. Over the years, he participated in many Poker Runs, fundraisers, and even formed another group with Ron years ago – The Mud Turtles, an ATV group which raised money for children.
Lonnie is preceded in death by parents, Sheila Engle and Lonnie Nelson, Sr.; brothers, Jim Nelson and Robert Nelson; and sister, Debra Lehman.
Lonnie is survived by daughter, Tilley Ralston; sons, Josh and Justin Nelson; grandchildren, Bella and Uriah; sisters, Mary, Marlene, Loretta, and Sue; brothers, Gary and Wyatt; many cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts, and uncles; and other family members.
A Celebration of Life was held at 4 pm, Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Heinlein Brown Funeral Home, with the Hocking County Honor Guard providing a military service.
Donations will be accepted to help with memorial expenses.
