Lu Evelyn Flowers

Lu Evelyn Flowers, 88, of Nelsonville went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 13, 2025, at the Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster, Ohio.

Lu was born on August 13, 1936, in Nelsonville, Ohio to Charles and Audrey Shafer. She was a graduate of the Nelsonville high school and lived all but 22 years in Nelsonville, Ohio. She married her high school sweetheart, Larry Flowers and had five children. She was a devoted wife and loved being a mother. She was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Nelsonville where she was an Elder, taught the youth choir and Sunday School classes. She was the Den Mother to the local Campfire Girls for many years and was also a member of the library board in Nelsonville. She lived in Keen, Ohio for 22 years where she attended the Keen United Methodist Church.

Lu is survived by her children: Cathy (Rick) Huddy, Ed (Barb) Flowers, Mike (Julie) Flowers, Rex (Mary) Flowers and Melissa Dickerson. Her grandchildren: Vinni (Jenn) Kish, Kim (LaMont) Russell, Nikki (Lucas) Cydrus, Sarah (Henry) Robbins, Tiffany Flowers, Jill Flowers, Michael (Lacy) Flowers, David Flowers, Hannah (Adam) Allnut, Larry (Jessica) Flowers, Victor (Darcy) Lewis, Todd (Bonnie) Lewis, Sabra Bullock, Shilo Flowers, Amber (Tyler) Dickerson and Gideon (Mikala) Dickerson. Her great-grandchildren: Maddie, Luke, Mason, McKenzie, Paxton, Hayleigh, Grayson, Evie Grace, Zack, Olivia, Emma, Layla, Gaige, Bayne, Bella, Peyton, Evie, Holden, Austyn, Heathyn, Angelyna, Hentley, Ethan, Rowan, Ember, George, Lana, Aurora, Arianna, Noah, Jaxson, Mila and Noble. Her great-great-grandchildren: Truitt, Peyton and Christopher. She is also survived by her sister, Margie (Randy) Adams and beloved Aunt Bonnie McCollum.

Lu was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband, Larry Flowers who she shared a wonderful and happy marriage to for over 50 years, when he passed in 2006. Her granddaughter, Amanda Flowers, a daughter-in-law, Angel Flowers, a son-in-law, Paul Dickerson, a sister, Betty Plummer, and a brother, Charles Shafer.

Calling hours will be held at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home in Nelsonville on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Nelsonville with CRE Kevin Lowry officiating on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 1:00 pm.
