Mae Elizabeth “Liz’ Johnson

Mae Elizabeth “Liz” Johnson, age 76, of South Bloomingville, Ohio, passed away September 5, 2024, at her residence surround by family. 

Liz was born September 20, 1947, in London, Ohio. She was a dedicated cosmetologist who shared her skills as a teaching assistant at Tri-County Vocational School and Pickaway Ross. Passionate about her work, she also ran her own successful hair salon called L’Unique Beauty Salon and had previously worked at Hair Happening in Logan. Outside of her profession, she was deeply involved in her church community, serving through the years as a Youth Leader, Sunday School Teacher, and Choir Director at Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ in Christian Union. In her personal life, she found joy in various hobbies such as horseback riding, motorcycle riding, sewing, playing piano, and baking. Known for her infectious sense of humor, she embraced her family and life wholeheartedly and cherished the relationships she had with everyone around her. 

Surviving are her husband of 15 years, Winfield Johnson; children Kelly (Amy) Johnson, Craig (Cel) Johnson, Andrea (Jesse) Clary, Bryan (Kara) Johnson, and Kristen (Kyle) Howard; grandchildren, Justin (Tara) Clarke, Brittany A. (Chad) Stevens, Justin (Tiffany) Johnson, Bailey (Jackson) Quier, Rachael (Gavin) Supplee, Breanna Johnson, Alexandra Johnson, Kaden Howard, Brennan Johnson, Josh Clary, Owen Johnson, Kane Howard, and Kohen Howard; Several great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Sheets, Robin Vincent, Danny McVey, and Tracie Davis; and several nieces and nephews.

Liz was preceded in death by her father, Edwin Cutlip; mother, Doris Doss McVey; first husband, Leonard Johnson, of 40 years; infant brother, Donnie; and brothers, Frank and Eddie Cutlip.

Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M., Thursday, September 12, 2024, at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, Ohio. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, South Bloomingville, Ohio.

Calling hours will be observed 4-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
