Maxine Bernice Fickel, age 90, went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, on December 22, 2020.
She is survived by her son Howard of Westerville; was “Nee Nee” to grandsons, Tyler (Ashley) of Galena and Andrew of Newark; and three great-grandchildren, Silas, Madisen, and Zayne.
Bernice, or “Niece” as she was affectionately known, was born March 11, 1930 to Clifford and Elsie Redd in Hocking County.
She was proceeded in death by her sister, Roberta.
She graduated from Logan High School in 1948, married Ned Fickel, and then raised her family in Logan. She was an active member of the former Trinity United Methodist Church. She always enjoyed children and was a library aid at Central Elementary. After retiring she continued to live in Logan dedicating her time to helping others, especially her family. In 2017 Bernice moved to Westerville where she lived with her son until her death.
Bernice will be missed for her strong Christian faith, perpetual positive attitude, kind words, and selfless desire to make everyone around her life better.
Viewing was held at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home in Logan, Ohio on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with a service following at 1:00 pm. Burial was immediately following at Oak Grove Cemetery in Logan, Ohio.
Masks and social distancing are required to attend.
