Pearl “Pudge” Phillips Jr., age 79, of Murray City, Ohio, passed away January 8, 2025 at Doctors Hospital West, Columbus, Ohio.

Pudge was born November 20, 1945, to Pearl Phillips Sr. and Beulah Mace Phillips. He graduated from Buchtel-York High School, and loved coaching baseball, football, basketball and softball.                                

Surviving are his sons, Michael (Kim) Phillips of Maryland and Shawn (Tonya) Phillips of Chesterhill; daughter, Angie (Craig) Cook of Murray City; grandchildren, Devan (Nickie), Shoshannah, Keanu, Thomas, Bryce, Drew, Madison, Logan, Ava, Blake, and Zachery; and great-grandchildren, Dawson, and Emery.

Pudge was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce Ann Phillips, who passed away November 30, 2020; and brother, Donald Phillips.

Funeral services were held at 11 am Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at the Brown Funeral Home, Murray City, Ohio with Pastor Tim Poling officiating. Burial was in Carbon Hill Cemetery, Carbon Hill, Ohio. Graveside military services were conducted by the Combined Color Guard.

Calling hours were observed 2-4 & 6-8 pm Monday, January 13, 2025, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the funeral home to help with Pudge’s funeral expenses.
