Peter Walter Nahodyl, age 73, of Lancaster, Ohio, formerly of Logan, passed away August 6, 2021 at Berger Hospital , Circleville, Ohio.
Pete was born September 15, 1947 in The Bronx, New York to Stephen John Nahodyl and Ruth Ingrid Nahodyl. He graduated from Plainview Old Beth Page High School in Plainview New York; attended Strayer University, attended James Monroe University, received a Doctor of Philosophy in Theology; served in the US Air Force during Vietnam; was a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ; co-owner of Pete’s Sharpening Service for over 10 years; member of the Sciota Valley Baptist Association, Volunteer Pastoral Pulpit Supply; member and past chaplain of the American Legion Post #78 in Logan; Adjunct Professor of World Religions at Western International University from 2004-2006; and attended the First Baptist Church in Logan.
Surviving are his wife Marsha Nahodyl, married April 12, 1970; children Christopher Daniel (Michelle) Nahodyl of Seabrook, NY, Jennifer Renee Smith of Logan, Sara Marie Nahodyl (Kelly Lehoe) of Circleville Steven Michael (Laura) Nahodyl of Lancaster; grandchildren Brice Nahodyl, Breanna Nahodyl, Daniel Miller, Michael Nahodyl, Austin Shupe, Cadence Clark, Amelya Clark, Aubrey Clark, Frankie Clark Jr., Gabby Clark, Lester Clark, and Abigail Valentine; brothers John Stephen Nahodyl of Boulder Colorado, Paul Mogans Nahodyl of New York ,NY; and friends Frank & Mary Clark.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M., Monday August 16, 2021 at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, Ohio with Pastor Lucas Moncada officiating. Burial was in Shaw Cemetery, Logan, Ohio where Graveside Military services were conducted by the Hocking County Honor Guard.
Calling hours were observed on Sunday 2-4 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
