Ralph E Wetzel, 72, of Nelsonville, Ohio passed away September 25, 2016 at his residence. Ralph was born August 14, 1944 in Buchtel, Ohio to Arthur and Carrie Wetzel. He is a 1962 graduate of Buchtel-York High School, and took several college courses; served in the US Air Force in Vietnam; retired after 42 years from AEP; former Buchtel Councilman; member of the Nelsonville VFW; member of the IBEW; loved Puzzles; and loved and collected trains. Surviving are his wife, Barbara L Wetzel, whom he married on August 31, 1974; daughter, Melissa S. (Mike) Troxel of Bremen; grandchildren, Nickolas (Mindy) Troxel of Rushville, Reid Troxel of Bremen, and Owen Troxel of Bremen; great-granddaughter, Bailey Troxel; 3 step-great-grandchildren, Montana, Morgan, and Madison Brown; sister-in-law, Betty Dalton of Nelsonville; several nieces and nephews, including Angie (Terrence) Grimes of Albany; great-niece and great-nephew, Mada and Gabe Grimes of Albany; sister-in-law, Lillie Wetzel of Columbus; many special friends. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary and Lawrence Kettell; brother, Lewis Wetzel; infant brother, Arthur Alton Wetzel; sister, Mary Margaret Hanning; special nephew Adam Dalton; and a special niece Diane Miller. Funeral services were held 1:00 pm Friday September 30, 2016 at the Nazarene Church in Nelsonville, Ohio with Rev. Ed True officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, Ohio, where Military Graveside service were conducted by the Combined Color Guard. Calling hours were observed Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home in Nelsonville and one hour prior to the service at the church.
