Richard A. “Dick”Buchanan, 76, of Trimble passed away June 24, 2016 at Ross Heart Center in Columbus. He was born November 17, 1939 in Murray City to Lee and Clarabelle Buchanan. He graduated from Murray City High School in 1957; served in the US Marine Corps; worked for ODOT in the Bureau of planning survey from 1959-1963; worked for Columbus Southern Ohio Electric Co. from 1963-1990; was appointed to the Trimble Township Wastewater Board in 1991 and elected president and CEO of the same in 1992. Member of the Trimble Masonic Lodge #557, member of Athens Chapter #15; member of Athens Council #39; member of Commandry # 15; member of Commandry Drill Team; member of Trimble Lions; member of the Murray City Depot Committee; and was Santa Claus for 50 years. Dick is survived by his wife of 26 years, Charlotte E Buchanan; children, Colette (Dave) Locke of Glouster, Bryan A. “Pete”(Mindy) Buchanan of Glouster, Christy (Greg Shaner) Six of Glouster, Kent (Norma) Fearns of Harker Heights,TX, and Tom (Cinda) Fearns of Nelsonville; son-in-law, Joe McGee of Glouster; 22 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Coletta Buchanan, in 1991; daughter, LeeAnn McGee; son, Steven Kelly; and a son-in-law, Robert L. Six. Funeral service were held Thursday 11:00am at the Brown Funeral Home in Murray City, Ohio with Rev. Ernie Perkins officiating. Burial was in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Nelsonville, where Military graveside service were conducted by the combined Color Guard. A potluck reception was held at the Trimble Masonic Lodge following the funeral. Calling hours were held Wednesday 3-6 pm at the Trimble Masonic Lodge #557. A Masonic service was held Wednesday at 6:00 pm.
